Top 10 Songs to walk down the aisle to - for live saxophone
Being a wedding saxophonist, I talk to many couples about how they want to use the smooth sound of the saxophone during their wedding day.
The first consideration is what I call the REAL beginning of the wedding…. the BRIDE’S WALK DOWN THE AISLE. At this point, the wedding changes from being a nice social a occasion, where family and friends are being reunited, YOUR big day!
The gentle chatter and pleasantry exchanges come to an abrupt STOP! It’s always a good idea to have the official announce the entrance of the bride. This will ensure the attention this moment deserves (you bought that dress for a reason).
Then for the song choice….
If you choice to have a saxophone play your down to aisle, remember not to worry too much about the lyrics of the actual song! This is as long as you use a professional saxophonist, who uses instrumental backing tracks and not someone playing the saxophone over the song on Spotify!
So think of the melody. A trick is to “hmmmm” the song an walk in a straight line, imagining that moment your family and friends marvel over how stunning you are, in that moment!
Also think of the speed (tempo) of the song. I wont go into too much music theory, but just consider and practice walking in a straight line with the song paying. Most brides don’t want to feel rushed and the song should help this. This is YOUR moment, so let them all take it in!
What the song also needs to do, or actually not do, is distract from your moment. So choose a song that doesn’t have a very complicated melody. This is not the moment for anyone to be distracted by my technical proficiency.. Remember, music facilitates the day and should NEVER compete with the main attraction!
